Be capable of paddling 5-10km a day for 4 days. An average healthy individual that engages in some form of regular physical exercise should be completely fine.
For maximum enjoyment, we recommend you to have experience paddleboarding and be confident with your balance on flatwater or slow moving rivers and harbours. We will have a variety of tours and coaching offerings available before the trip to help build confidence, skills, balance and fitness.
Please note, you will be asked to complete a personal details and medical information form after booking. Guests arriving with a physical or psychological condition or contraindicator that were not declared in the personal details form may be excluded from participating in certain activities. While our coaches and guides do have public and private liability insurance - Personal travel insurance is absolutely essential when venturing abroad. When selecting a travel insurance policy at a very minimum you should be covered for medical expenses and emergency repatriation.
We strongly recommend that you purchase insurance the same day that that you book your holiday in case of unexpected circumstances and that your policy covers cancellation, personal liability, paddleboarding, Grade 3 white water activities, curtailment, loss of luggage, personal belongings and anything that may be specific for you (possible pregnancy, pre-existing medical conditions etc)
Please ensure you have your policy number and emergency telephone number for your insurance company with you on the expedition (a card or email with contact details for example). If this is unavailable please ensure you have the necessary information required by your insurance company in case of an emergency.
Please do not worry about packing, all specialist equipment including neoprene clothing, shoes, PFD and safety equipment is included in the price.
You will mostly need your normal paddling equipment and clothes, swimwear, a towel and holiday clothes for the free time in the afternoons and evenings.
If you own your own neoprene and paddling shoes, you are more than welcome to bring them but if you would prefer to save luggage space everything is available in resort.
We are happy to provide you with a recommended kit list and advice on where to buy if needed, if you would like more specific guidance.
The nearest airports to Bovec are either Marco Polo Airport in Venice or Lljubjana Airport. There are typically numerous budget flights every day from the London or South East Airports.
Please do not book your flights until we confirm we have reached minimum numbers for the trip to run (4 people). We will then check availability and pricing and make a group decision on the recommended flights, so that we can co-ordinate in resort transfers.
If you wish to travel separately from another airport and extend your trip with an additional stay in Lljubjana or Venice that is possible and it is very likely there will be others doing the same, but you will need to arrange your transportation to and from the airport for the in resort transfer time. Venice has a very easy water taxi and Lljubjana has regular public transport links from the city to airport.
You can book directly via telephone or email. Or book online, but please be aware that a 4% Booking fee is chargeable by Eola our booking company for card payments.

July is summer and peak season in Slovenia, temperatures range from a humid 26 degrees to cooler 14 degrees and we will experience long days of up to 16 hours daylight.
However as it is a mountainous region, think along the lines of the great british summer and pack for all weathers with SPF, shorts, t-shirts and Swimwear, but also one or two warmer layers and a raincoat which hopefully won’t be needed but is better to have just in case!
Most of the areas that we paddle in will be sheltered water and protected by the surrounding mountains, cliffs and gorgeous, however your safety and enjoyment is paramount, so in the event of adverse or unsafe weather, we reserve the right to adjust the itinerary and locations if needed.
Paddling under the influence or while hungover isn’t recommended and can be a safety risk, but Bovec has a variety of bars and restaurants and even wine tasting and micro-breweries locally for guests to enjoy.
There will definitely be opportunities to let your hair down and relax with a drink or two if that is your thing, but also lots of opportunity to avoid and find alternative activities if you would prefer.
All alcohol is at our guest’s own cost.
